Somatics is a method for reawakening the mind's control of movement, flexibility, and health. By bridging slow, subtle movement, gentle breath practices, and relaxation techniques together, you can access a greater level of awareness, curiosity and compassion for yourself. You can then safely start to uncover movement patterns, habitual holding, and contraction within. This exploration allows your body to self-correct and release persistent stress-based patterns. New to yoga? Difficulty with your balance, arthritis, back pain, poor sleep? Chair yoga is accessible to everyone, no matter your age or physical ability.
Monday
A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes.
Tuesday/Thursday
A gentle yet deeper yoga practice.
Expect a slower-paced stretching-focused class with some basic breathing exercises (pranayama) and perhaps a seated meditation at the end.
Wednesday
Breath-synchronized movement and a little sweat! Synchronized physical movement with your breath allows you to create a deeper absorption of awareness through rhythmic moving while practicing yoga.
